This nostalgic, redone hotel offers a unique 70s-themed experience with exceptional hospitality and excellent food, but guests suggest brighter room lighting and caution about potential maintenance issues (like pool availability).
This was the third hotel my husband I stayed in after going through and staying in Denver, Colorado, and Buffalo, Wyoming. The outside looks outdated. The inside lobby, restaurant, and small entertainment room was up dated and inviting. The elevator had a nostalgic look with old magazine covers which were cute. Stepping out of the elevator was something else. I felt like I joined Ernest Goes to Camp. The hallway rug that ran throughout the 2nd floor was definitely made to look like early 70’s. Once in our room I thought, “ It’s not the worst place I've stayed in for the price. Everything was clean but could have be given new life. Although I was told the entire hotel was done over. The colors need a little work. The bathroom was to small for the size of bathroom counter. It was hard to close the door. It was like moving around in a stall. The lights were all little button and one lamp had a foot pedal to click on. That brought me back to a dorm room. The TV was horrible. All the stations kept going out. I was disappointed that there was no BIBLE!! I always travel with mine, but it would be nice to know there is one in every hotel. You never know when someone could need one. And yes, it could be in your hotel that someone could find Jesus and you could be the person who helps them secure their salvation. No one should be separated from the Love of God. Mark 16:15 God bless!!
We stayed here over a few days and appreciated the convenient location near downtown, the interstate (without the noise), and nearby shopping. The amenities were great in concept, but several things weren’t working during our stay…the pool was cold, the fire pits were broken, and the lobby fireplace was out of order. Which was disappointing, since we chose it based on the advertised photos. The room was comfortable but could use brighter lighting and a few more decorative touches to match the posted photos. Overall, there’s room for improvement, but we enjoyed the amazing service, great room, the Honey Hole, on site restaurant options, and would come back.
I originally chose Field and Stream because it seemed a fair value at a good location when I had to come to Bozeman for a family medical concern. What I discovered was a very well maintained (meticulous) hotel staffed by friendly, caring personnel. The room was generous in size, the bed top notch and the atmosphere quiet despite a busy weekend house. When my stay had to be extended for an indefinite period because of an impending death in the family, Jo Jo at the front desk was caring and so considerate extending my dates and finding the best value. In summary, F & S wasn't just another place to stay with a charming theme...they defined hospitality!
We had a wonderful stay at Field & Stream in Bozeman. The newly renovated hotel is beautifully done—cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The staff was welcoming and incredibly helpful with local recommendations, even offering us pool towels for our trips to the hot springs and s’mores to enjoy at the adorable outdoor fire pits. We were a bit disappointed that the pool was closed during our stay and that housekeeping service was not provided, but overall we still had a great experience. We really appreciated the special touches like the hot cocoa bar, postcards to send to friends and family, and the consistently friendly staff. Those details truly made our stay feel special.
Nice atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. However, it was so dark in the room that I could not read a book or find something I dropped. Stronger lights or adding a few flashlights or head lamps to keep with the theme would do the trick. We recommend the restaurant: good selection. The prime rib and burgerwere delicious.
We have been driving across the country to drive my dad's service dog back to our home. So we have stayed in many places along the way. We decided to treat ourselves and pay more for this 4 star ranked place. I get it, the lobby is beautiful, the bar is well done, they will have food, but not while we were there. But the rooms? I was surprised actually. The bathroom door comes with a millimeter of the toilet, so maneuvering in the bathroom is really tight. The bed was really hard for us, but I do enjoy a softer bed. In the pictures, the pillows look big and luxurious, but they must be foam filled because there is no give. Your neck is cricked up and your ears will start to burn if you don't move around. The air conditioner didn't work so we were very hot all night. I'd have to say, I expected a bit higher end room. Maybe 3 star, at best.
I was totally not expecting this to be one of our fave hotels ever but it was incredible!! No complaints! The front desk was the nicest front desk I've ever encountered. They were able to get me an extra night that matched the price of night #1. The coffee in the restaurant was also amazing. We can't wait to come back! Location was fabulous, vibes were great, rooms were cozy and it was just a memorable and wonderful stay.
I stayed at this hotel way back before it was redone for field and stream, I am so happy to see what they have done with the place, and excited for what's to come! Our room was pretty affordable, although a Thursday night in October so not peak season. The beds are comfortable, the room is cute with lots of thoughtful touches. I feel like they really tried to do it a little different, get rid of all the things we dont really care about or want in a hotel and focus on more of what we do. Sure it is still an old hotel with updates to be done eventually (our window was pretty drafty, however the window coverings and heater fixed it right up. The TV is really cool, it had my name displayed on it when I arrived. The wifi works well and is easy to log into, and I got a text from the front desk. I had a question in the morning and got a quick reply. I did get a knock at my door at 9 am for housekeeping which id prefer not but thats okay. My stop was quick so I was not able to enjoy the saloon or restaurant, or pool, but all of those areas looked super appealing and awesome. The backyard looks super cool and I cant wait until that is open! Awesome to see a cool.hotel in bozeman thats not a chain, that didnt cost me over $200 a night (although im sure that is the rate here some nights/times of year) overall I would stay again! I travel to bozeman frequently and have stayed in many hotels here. Thanks for the great experience!
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was very very clean, quiet and comfortable. The decor of the hotel was a lot of fun and very nostalgic for us that grew up with Field and Stream on our Dad's magazine stack. We had breakfast at the restaurant, and the food was very good. I had the breakfast bowl and my husband had the steak and eggs. One minor comment I have was that the pillows were a little too firm for me. Not a deal breaker at all, and we would come back and recommend this hotel to our friends.
This hotel was listed on BRING FIDO as dog friendly. I would call them dog tolerant. The pet fee is an additional $50 per night. No dog amenities were provided. Usually a pet friendly hotel provides: bowls, beds, treats. I rarely use those things- but it’s the effort that counts. The only pet waste station was inside the courtyard (there were no bags) and I was told that the courtyard was not a pet relief area. I was told to use any of the grassy areas around the hotel- most of which are by a busy street and- had no trash receptacles for pet waste- even though I used my own bags. I also ordered a plain burger patty for my dog and was charged the full price for a child’s cheeseburger and fries- $12. I would not call that dog friendly. The rooms have been well insulated because I did not hear any noise from the hall. But the street noise/train noise/airport noise was pretty bad. I did not find the staff warm or welcoming. Overall- super disappointed and would not recommend this hotel for dog owners.
