The Kimpton Armory Hotel in Bozeman offers a stylish and centrally located stay with upscale amenities and a historic atmosphere. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, unexpected fees, and issues with food quality and room service functionality, despite generally positive comments on location and some staff members. Overall, the hotel aims for a premium experience but falls short in a few crucial areas.
A lack lustre well intended but poor delivery of a stay. A stay that was dressed up well but ultimately didnt feel polished professional, or satisfactory. Context. I stayed to celebrate my partners birthday. I travel extensively for work and its nice to be able to share the fun of travel and good food with my loved ones when I can. And especially somewhere elevated that feels like an indulgence but a needed one. Upon arrival even though I had put notes on the stay that it was to celebrate my partners birthday it was not mentioned nor did there seem to be any attempts by any of the staff to even get to know why we were there or what we were up to (other than the in room dining delivery person he was personable and gave recommendations) I think the worse thing was that I was extremely disappointed by the food and that's usually my favorite part of the stay. As part of my stay with the hotel breakfast was included and although I tried to ask as to how "included" it was upon check in they simply said simply charge it to your room and it will be taken care of. *it was limited to 50 a day which let me explain what was included with that so far example the avocado toast a single slice of * burnt toast with a paltry amount of smashed avocado a handful of pumpkin seeds pickled onions and an even more paltry topping of trout which in total cost 26 just for that alone. I will say the side potatoes were good. Then that night due to wanting to sleep in I attempted to order in room dining twice there site which they asked us to us *couldn't just call in a reserved order for the next day after several attempts to get it to work it wouldn't after three trouble shoots with staff no resolution came about other than calling in an order in the morning. Which is fine but the first day they ran out of French toast which is what my partner wanted and I didnt want to have that again. Also there is no menu or description of the food in the room . The app gives no details and I ordered the Benedict * didnt even eat it because if was not close to a Benedict which is fine but without clarifying or having a description it would have been better. It was a biscuit with fried egg and served with gravy like biscuits and gravy and if your expecting something at least Benedict adjacent it was a big let down. None of the main dishes which range from 18-24 come with sides so you just get that portion and you have additional costs to add meat or something to it. So the 50 does not nearly cover two people eating breakfast at all. Additionally when we arrived there pool was under maintenence and so it was neither warm nor full . So the daily 35 fees for all the "fun" stuff you can do was a waste. Look I made a great trip happen for my partner but not as a result of anything the hotel did. I would say moreso in spite of it. It was a big let down.
When I spend more than $400 a night. I'd better not expect any $35 "amenity" checkout fees. ESPECIALLY when they explicitly require you to ask for a coffee machine to be delivered to your room.
Two blocks from Main Street and easy to access. Rooftop saltwater pool is open year-round. Rooftop boasts panoramic view of four mountains. Healthy food choices and a robust beer, wine, and spirits menu. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I love how the history has been preserved.
Just hosted a group of 70+ guests for an incentive trip and O can’t say enough good things about The Armory. From the minute I got dropped off at the entrance, the customer service was over-the-top excellent. Valets, bellmen, front desk, housekeeping, servers - each one seemed to be in a contest to out perform the other. The result is an experience where the customer feels truly welcomed, valued and most importantly: liked. The culinary offering both in public venues and private events were met with rave reviews and our guests specifically commented on the multiple items they tried that were “unexpected, but amazing” or “better than my grandma used to make”. Rooms are well-decorated, comfortable and full of modern amenities. Pets are welcome and well-cared for. Kids have a blast in the pool/hot tub. And the location is in the center of town. Easily walkable to shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The size is big enough to feel like you can be taken care of without worry, but the feel is more like a specialty boutique hotel. Already looking forward to returning more and more in years to come.
A fantastic stay from check in-check out. The rooftop pool was a cozy 100 degrees which felt amazing after a day in the snow- views were great too! fielding has a great breakfast and desserts (we missed out on lunch and dinner services). Staff were all so kind and helpful. Rooms were big, clean, and cozy. The lobby is beautiful too! We will absolutely be back!
Just arrived and had to drop a quick 5 star review. First time to MT and this place is wonderful. Adding to the beautiful hotel was Morgan who checked me in. She was so courteous, kind and the kind of welcome you wish you received at every business you frequent. It will be a quick stay for me but I’m grateful it is here!
Never again. I may even skip Kimpton moving forward, I hate feeling "had" when checking my credit card charges. One drink and valet got me up to $96 so I was mystified enough to call. I learned about the guest amenity, it's the fee you pay for staying in the room you booked an paid for. Hotel is fine. It has all the generic class of the what the Kimpton brand has become. Perfect for the tech industry. Valet staff were top notch.
The hotel was great, but trying to be charged again at the front desk was a problem, I booked through Priceline. She made me look up my bank account to show the funds withdrawn so that wasn’t problem and I was not very happy about that. We went down to check out, live music at the Toon bar and sat there in our spot for 15 minutes. Nobody greeted us. Nobody offered us services. Nothing that was very disappointing so we got up and left and went and had food somewhere else.
Hotel exudes Bozeman’s charm and warmth. Property is clean and well maintained with many amenities and areas to gather (i.e. lobby, rooftop, basement lounge). The location is prime, near Main St and walking distance to many of Bozeman’s touted eateries. The service takes the property over the top. The staff is attentive, warm, and accommodating.
Hotel was just ok. Then we were charged with a room service mini bar charge for over $70. We disputed sinvpce we didn't touch anything from the mini bar. The response was, “yes you did.” It's disproving a negative. Stay away. The AC across the street is better and friendlier. And you don't need to carry your luggage up 10 steps to enter the hotel.
