The Wandering Buffalo is a newly renovated hotel in Bozeman offering a comfortable and stylish stay with a great location near downtown. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and recent updates, though some have noted issues with amenities and fees.
We came to Bozeman to go to the Museum of the Rockies, walk the sculpture park, and eat at Blackbird. The Wandering Buffalo was perfectly located. It has friendly, professional staff and the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The Nescafe in the room was nice, but as others have noted, there is no USB port, so bring your own plug. Overall a very nice place to spend the night.
The good: Good location and most staff were great. Recent remodel really transformed the place. The bad: turned down the bed our first night and found blood on sheets and pillows. Staff on duty responded and got clean linens. Next day, toilet leaked. Went to get assistance and there was nobody at the front desk for 30 minutes! Were promised compensation for our inconvenience but can't seem to get anyone from management to respond to emails validating it. The place has great potential but needs to shore up it's management system.
Super cute place. The front desk staff is amazing! Super polite, kind, and truly radiate customer service. The beds are very comfy. I would definitely stay here again.
Very well done renovation that is close to downtown Bozeman. As someone who travels a lot for work, a few things stood out: - Great value for Bozeman. - Cozy lobby and coffee bar for working. Good coffee too. - Very, very comfortable bedding and towels. - Strong water pressure and plenty of hot water - Good parking lot for coming and going (vs waiting on valet) Would stay again!
The hotel is super cute. Love the lobby and coffee bar. Wish the coffee bar opened at 6am instead of 7am. The staff was really great. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The lack of usb/c outlets was a huge negative. I didn’t have a cube to plug into an outlet. Also the $20 parking fee makes you feel like you’re being nickeled and dimed to death. Just raise the room rate $. There is so much parking and it just feels wrong to charge for it. I’d definitely stay again if I wanted to be close to downtown.
Great decor! Comfy bed, clean room, and espresso bar that opens at 7 as well as in-room Nespresso. On Main Street and close to downtown but not too close. Reasonably priced for Bozeman. Next door to the summer farmers market and park. Katie at the front desk was very helpful when we requested a quiet room and also when we couldn't figure out how to change something on the TV!
I drove around Montana for three weeks and stayed in a bunch of different motels and hotels, some high end and some your standard roadside motels. This hotel was by far the best of all of them. It’s not just the comfortable beds and cleanliness. The whole atmosphere is just perfect. Usually you either get modern or historic Western, this place somehow combines both. It’s got classic Montana vibes with the buffalo head and the leather sofas and the adorable buffalo themed headboard. But it also feels modern and light and airy. I know it’s crazy but I’d almost say it’s underpriced for what it offers compared to other similar and ‘fancier’ hotels in Bozeman. I even kept one of the cute buffalo themed key cards (sorry!!) as a momento. You won’t be disappointed if you book here.
Hotel was well located and beautifully renovated! Comfortable bed and large shower. The room had no refrigerator or coffee maker. It does offer an espresso machine but we for sure prefer coffee!! It would be nice to either offer your preferred choice or both. No elevator was a big deal for us too. Due to our long vacation, we had heavy bags and our third floor room was a hike! Did not see any reason for parking fee. Lot was plenty big and lots of empty spaces. If needed, add to bill from start and advertise fee, or make seasonal so during off season, guest don’t have that extra cost. It felt as if you were trying to get more money for no reason. Best explanation was all downtown hotels charge this fee. Be different and offer free parking when lot has the space!
Traveling cross country with a little dog and we needed a break from camping. This sweet, newly updated hotel was a great find. The location is close to all the cool stuff on Main Street to walk for a nice dinner and beer. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The front outdoor area with a gas fire ring and chairs is a really nice touch. My only complaint is that I reserved online from the wandering buffalo website a day ahead and upon arrival, learned there is an additional $20 parking fee. Please, just add the $20 to the cost of a stay since 99% of your guests are driving. I reserved ahead of time to know exactly what to expect for costs and how it compares to other places. The last minute fee felt like a trick and makes me lose trust in your business. A parking fee makes sense in a downtown Chicago hotel where many guests are not driving and this makes you seem like a wannabe.
Newly renovated hotel. Pet friendly in a great location. The rooms were clean comfortable and well decorated! We requested early check in and the staff was more than accommodating! They were so great to our dogs treating them with balls and treats. Wish I got their names as the staff were great. Free bicycles to ride around town. There a a coffee shop in premise unfortunately we left before it opened at 7. No elevator task if old calm ahead I’m sure they will help you out but most visiting I’m sure are ready for a hike great location next to downtown and the highway! Extra bonus grand opening party free food, music, and drinks
